Emma Schlamm

Emma Schlamm is a research and strategy consultant who partners with mission-driven organizations to translate values, lived experience, and complexity into clear, actionable strategy. With nearly a decade of experience across philanthropy, healthcare innovation, and nonprofit leadership, Emma designs inclusive, disciplined processes that help organizations align stakeholders, sharpen priorities, and make better decisions.

Emma brings deep expertise in mixed-methods research, facilitation, and synthesis, and has led end-to-end strategic engagements for foundations, nonprofits, and advocacy organizations navigating moments of growth or transition. Her work sits at the intersection of human experience and organizational systems. As an independent consultant, she has led major research and process-redesign initiatives for the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, partnering closely with leadership to streamline grantmaking workflows, strengthen cross-team alignment, and support strategic learning. She has also advised nonprofits and foundations on stakeholder engagement, equity-centered strategy, and translating qualitative insights into practical decision-making frameworks.

Emma currently serves as Chair of the Research Committee and a Board Member of the STAAR Ovarian Cancer Foundation, where she oversees national research strategy and more than $475,000 in funded oncology research. In this role, she works closely with researchers, clinicians, donors, and lay leaders—facilitating consensus, evaluating complex data, and translating findings into accessible guidance for leadership and community stakeholders.

Previously, Emma was a Senior UX Researcher at ZS Associates, leading qualitative and quantitative research for global healthcare clients, and a researcher at YTH (Youth + Tech + Health), where she facilitated participatory research in partnership with major foundations and public agencies. She is also actively involved in advocacy organizations including Sharsheret and the Alliance for Fertility Preservation.
